Martin Heidegger and the Abandonment

The famous phrase of Martin Heidegger "only a God can save us" may be subject to different interpretations. According to Diego Fusaro it means that there is no room to change the world through praxis and it is a surrender to the fate of the technique without possibility of transformation. This also results in a de-empowerment of man who has no freedom of initiative as we are submitted to the history of Being.I would like to propose a different interpretation. It is true that Heidegger often says that man cannot save himself and he criticizes praxis conceived as the primacy of the humankind creating history. However he also says that Being is shown to man who must walk the path of abandonment and listening. Then there is room for human action but within the Being ( r with my own words within the mystery of the Whole). I do not interpret the abandonment as surrending to the fate of this mechanism that Heidegger calls Gestell. Abandonment is already a practice, a decision not to do but never independent of the Whole. Abandonment, returning to the earth, to nature, to our roots, economic slowdown, I think this is the only revolutionary path we can take.

La famosa frase di Martin Heidegger “ormai solo un Dio ci puo’ salvare” puo’ essere oggetto di varie interpretazioni. Secondo Diego Fusaro c’e’ la rinuncia ad ogni possibilita’ di cambiare il mondo attraverso la prassi ed un arrendersi al destino della tecnica senza possibilita’ di trasformazione. Questo comporta anche una de-responsabilizzazione dell’uomo che non ha nessuna liberta’ di iniziativa in quanto deve sottostare alla storia dell’Essere.

Io vorrei proporre una diversa chiave di lettura. E’ vero che Heidegger ripete spesso che l’uomo non si salva da solo in quanto inserito in un contesto piu’ grande che e’ l’Essere. Critica il fare in quanto concepito sul primato dell’uomo creatore della storia. Pero’ dice anche che l’Essere si manifesta anche attraverso l’uomo che deve percorrere la strada dell’abbandono e dell’ascolto, quindi c’e’ spazio per un’azione umana, vista pero’ all’interno dell’Essere (o con parole mie all’interno del mistero del Tutto). Io non interpreto l’abbandono come un rassegnarsi al destino della tecnica rinunciando a qualsiasi prassi. Abbandonarsi e’ gia’ una prassi, una decisione di non fare anche se mai independente dal Tutto. Abbandonarsi, rinunciare, decrescere, ritorno alla terra, alla natura e alle origini e’ secondo me l’unico percorso rivoluzionario che oggi possiamo intrapendere ancge se molto difficilmente verra' attuato.
